First Grade News
Dear Parents,
We hope you were able to enjoy some of the beautiful weather this weekend. We are in the final week of Quarter 3 and wish your family a restful and fun-filled Spring Break, next week.
Please send in the classic Beatrix Potter by March 18th.
Simple Machine Project is due March 18th. Please use this week to work on the project to avoid working on it during break.
In Literature this week, we will wrap up Owl at Home with a writing assignment reflecting on our favorite memory from this classic. Scholars will review adjectives and introduce a new part of speech, adverbs.
In Math, we will continue in Chapter 9, addition and subtraction skills for numbers to 100. This week we will focus on addition from a 2-digit number, both without and with renaming.
In History, we will continue with our unit over the American Revolution, focusing on taxation and the Boston Tea Party. (Shhh it's a surprise) On Tuesday, scholars will be visited by King George III's British soldiers and ordered to pay taxes to the British sovereign. The colonists of First Grade will understand soon enough the frustration the American colonists felt over 200 years ago.
In Science, we will learn about the outer planets.
Thank you so much for your continued support and partnership. Have a wonderful week.
