First Grade News
Dear Parents,
Happy Monday! We hope your weekend was restful.
In Literature/Grammar scholars will continue reading similar stories from different lands such as Issun Boshi and Tom Thumb. Scholars will reflect on the elements of narrative text by comparing characters, plot and setting in these stories. Scholars will focus on person nouns and the difference between common and proper nouns.
This week your scholar will learn the poem "I'm Glad". This will be their first poetry recitation grade. Look for this poem to come home in their red folder this week.
In Math, we will focus on numbers from 1-10, one more, one less and making number bonds.
In History, we will continue our geography unit; covering different landforms and building them out of salt dough. We will also begin our unit on the civilization of Mesopotamia.
Thank you for your partnership in helping your scholar with their reading and homework and to arrive to school on time. Keep up the momentum and have a blessed week. 😊
