First Grade News
Dear Parents,
We hope you had an extraordinary Spring Break! We are officially in the last quarter of the school year!
Next week we will begin Sam the Minuteman. The school will provide copies of this out of print book for your scholar. If you are interested in buying a copy for home this link will provide you with an option for buying out of print books: https://www.betterworldbooks.com/product/detail/sam-the-minuteman-9780064441070.
In Literature this week, we will conclude Owl at Home. In Grammar and Writing, scholars will focus on writing complete sentences, citing textual evidence, reviewing the parts of speech, and learning about adverbs.
In Math, we will continue in Chapter 9, addition and subtraction skills for numbers up to 100. This week, we will focus on addition strategies for one and two-digit numbers with and without renaming.
In History, we will continue with our unit on the American Revolution, focusing on the role of Paul Revere and Samuel Adams as colonial leaders. Our colonial scholars have been paying taxes and will write a letter to King George III, imploring him to reconsider these unfair taxes or face a colonial uprising. We will deliver the letter and await his answer.
In Science, we will continue the study of human body systems, covering the skeletal, digestive, and respiratory systems this week.
Thank you so much for your continued support and partnership. Have a wonderful week.
Go Griffins!
