First Grade News
Dear Parents,
We hope you had a great weekend!
In Literature, we will begin reading Frog and Toad Together looking at sequencing of narrative texts. Students will begin retelling a story using the words "First, Then, Next and Last."
In Writing/Grammar, we will continue identifying and differentiating between nouns and verbs. We will also have our Common and Proper Noun Assessment on Friday. Please practice identifying common and proper nouns at home when students read to you.
In Math this week we will start subtraction within 10. We will tell number stories for when objects are taken away also counting back on the number line to prepare for Chapter 3 Test for the following week. Counting Back.mp4 Copy of Take From Result Unknown Build It.mp4
In History this week, we will begin our Ancient Egypt Unit. We will learn about the Nile river, Pharaohs, mummies, the gods and goddesses of ancient Egypt, and hieroglyphics as their form of writing. We will also discover how Egypt was once two kingdoms that united into one. This unit will culminate in our first celebration of the year, our Ancient Egyptian Celebration!
Don't forget that reading logs are due on Mondays. Please add up and record the minutes your scholar has read over the course of the week.
